Get Excited: The Rescheduled 2024 Placencia Lobster Fest Is Almost Here

Hurricane Beryl may have caused a hiccup in plans across Belize as our small Central American nation shuttered in preparation for possible inclement weather. However, as a true test of the resilience of the Caribbean region, things are officially back on track! That includes festival plans in the charming coastal village of Placencia, which initially postponed the 2024 Lobsterfest from the first weekend in July to the 19th, 20th, and 21st.

Spanning across three days, festival goers in Placencia, Belize can enjoy culinary creations revolving around all things lobster to herald in the month of its open season, alongside a vibrant celebration of Belizean cuisine and heritage with its sandy street fete. With renewed excitement and new dates, here’s what to expect in Placencia Village, Belize for Lobster Fest 2024!

Your 3-Day Festival Weekend At A Glance

Without fail, it’ll be seafood, seafood, and—you guessed it—seafood! Although for the non-seafood lovers, there’s plenty of fun to go around on the entire 16-mile Placencia Peninsula for Lobster Fest 2024. Since its inception in 1998, the Lobsterfest has grown exponentially, transforming from a modest gathering at the fishing harbor into an internationally acclaimed food festival that’s barefoot casual with beautiful sea vistas and even better company alongside friendly Belizeans. Undoubtedly, as one of Belize’s three locations to host a Lobster Festival at the start of the season, it’s one event that seamlessly captures the essence of Belizean hospitality and culinary artistry.

Tents line the world’s smallest street—no wider than the average person’s idea of a sidewalk—that cuts through the village’s main hub to house street food vendors and local artisans, while live entertainment fills the air day and night. As does the char of fire-roasted lobster! Find some of Belize’s favorite performers like Sweet Pain, Gilharry 7, and the Panerrifix Steel Drum Orchestra on the schedule, while not-so-traditional Caribbean-esque competitions keep you entertained. Think fly-casting, lobster toss, and even swimming races! Feeling extra lucky? Bet on a rubber duck in the unique and beloved Rotary Club’s Rubber Duck Race for charity, or buy a BZ$2 ticket in BTIA’s grand raffle with dozens of local prizes and experiences to win!

Before heading back to your room, whether staying with us at Sea Spray Hotel that’s wedged directly beachfront between the Caribbean Sea and the Placencia Sidewalk, stick around for the firework display on Saturday night. Is there anything more memorable than a pyrotechnic show over the horizon of the Caribbean Sea? Head to the Placencia harbor before dancing the night away to soca, punta, and much more. See you in Placencia Village for Lobster Fest 2024 this July 19th through 21st!

Sea Spray Hotel sends our deepest sympathies to all those in the Caribbean who have suffered losses in any capacity following Hurricane Beryl, who destroyed two islands in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines before lashing the southern United States and leaving a trail of destruction across Texas.
